The Eternal Plan of God
Text: Ephesians 1:3–11
God’s plan to save man through Christ was established before the world began, revealed through history, fulfilled in Christ, and now demands obedient faith.
I. Purposed Before the World Began
Ephesians 1:4-5 — He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world.
- Redemption is not divine improvisation.
- The cross is not heaven’s emergency repair.
- God had already fixed the saving place, blessings, and destiny in His Son before history began.
- Pressure: Do not treat the gospel as one option on a shelf of religious possibilities; it is the eternal decree of God.
II. Revealed and Fulfilled in Time
Galatians 4:4 — When the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son.
- History is not random motion; it was ordered toward the execution of this purpose.
- Jesus did not come too early, too late, or accidentally.
- Colossians 1:13: The kingdom is a present reality, not a postponed political experiment.
- Pressure: Reject systems that call the church “Plan B” or claim Christ’s reign must wait.
III. Found Exclusively “In Christ”
Ephesians 1:13 — In Him, you also, after listening to the message… having also believed.
- Paul is not teaching arbitrary, unconditional individual election.
- God chose the realm of salvation: in Him.
- God does not bypass the gospel; He calls through it (2 Thess 2:14).
- Pressure: You enter Christ exactly as God revealed—through obedient faith and baptism (Gal 3:26-27).
Conclusion & Invitation Drive
- If God purposed salvation before the world began, neglecting it is deadly (Heb 2:1-3).
- Postponing obedience is not harmless; it is rebellion against the eternal plan.
- Do not praise the cross with your lips while refusing the terms God revealed.
- Hear the gospel. Believe in Christ. Repent of your sins. Confess His name. Be baptized for the remission of sins.
- If you belong to Christ, stop drifting. Walk faithfully under the reign of the King.
