Living in the Truth (John 8)
“The Truth Will Make You Free”
The Thesis
Jesus alone is the Light of the World.
If we abide in His word, He exposes our sin.
He breaks our slavery and proves we belong to God by obedience.
Mercy & Sin
“Go and Sin No More”
Hypocrisy loves to punish others while protecting itself.
Mercy is not permission to stay in sin.
Jesus will not be used for cruelty, nor for looseness.
The Light
Jesus does not merely bring light. He IS the Light.
Rejection isn’t an intellectual issue. It is a love of darkness.
You cannot have the Light while hiding in the dark.
“Die In Your Sins”
Without Christ, sin remains unforgiven and unchanged.
The “Lifted Up” Son (The Cross) is the only remedy.
Neutrality is not an option. Believe or die.
The Condition
You continue (abide) in My word…
You will know the truth.
The truth will make you free.
“Freedom is not doing what you want; it is freedom from sin’s mastery.”
Word Study
Continue / Abide
(μένω, menō)
To remain, stay, persist. Discipleship is a life, not a moment.
Truth
(ἀλήθεια, alētheia)
Reality as God defines it. Not personal preference.
Free
(ἐλευθερόω, eleutheroō)
To liberate. Jesus does not decorate chains; He breaks them.
Slave
(δοῦλος, doulos)
Owned servant. If sin rules your habits, you are not free.
The Father Test
They claimed Abraham. Jesus checked their fruit.
A person’s “father” is proven by what they love and obey.
Heritage cannot replace righteousness.
Before Abraham…
Jesus is not just a teacher. He claims the Divine Name: “I AM.”
The Verdict: Worship Him or Stone Him.
You cannot remain neutral about God in the flesh.
Call to Action
Come into the Light: Stop hiding. Stop justifying. Repent honestly.
Continue in the Word: Let Scripture govern your choices.
Live Free: Do not negotiate with chains. Submit to Christ.
